If you can't seem to find a classic Range Rover at a reasonable price in Spain, perhaps blame Erica and Nick. The Dutch cousins who new reside in Texas grew up in the back of a Series Land Rover, and the formative years spent with that honest off-roader made sure they'd never want an office job. Staring out in the classic car import business in their early 20s, they've been shipping rust-free Euro goodies stateside for four years now, fixing them up and selling them off.

G Wagens, Land Crusiers, classic Porsches and Italian exotics? You name it, the cousins have imported it. But there's something special about the classic Range Rovers, even when they are parked next to the legendary Defender. The world's first luxury SUVs evolved from the 1970s all the way though 1994, and those boxy originals are a far cry from their later descendants.

Reliability isn't the challenge. Three decades on, that will always come down to maintenance, something we keep repeating about vintage Alfa Romeos. The most difficult part is buying cars from Europeans who actually loved them and cared for them, no matter how many faults they may have had-and may need convincing before they put them in the hands of American importers.
