Chevrolet Teases the C8 Corvette Z06 Before the Reveal

• The teased Corvette appears to have a wider body, which should mean even more wheel and tire.

The Chevrolet Corvette entered its eighth generation with a splash and finally made the transition to the mid-engine layout that engineers had toyed with for decades. And like every generational shift, the performance models lagged the standard model’s debut. More than two years after the C8 was officially unveiled, we’re closing in on the Z06’s debut, and the folks at Chevy apparently didn’t want to wait any longer. The Corvette Instagram page shows what is apparently the upcoming Corvette Z06.

The folks running the marketing department and social media departments for Chevrolet didn’t let any real information out, and the new Corvette variant looks, well, like a C8 Corvette. That said, it’s interesting to see the minor exterior alterations making their way to the C8 Z06.

We can see that the camouflaged ‘Vette sports a slightly more aggressive aero package with a rear wing. The car wearing no camo shows a lip spoiler but appears to show slightly revised bodywork around the wheel openings. That, combined with the new wheels, could mean that this Z06 is effectively a wide-body Corvette. That shouldn’t be a huge surprise if you look at previous Corvette generations and their high-performance variants.

The big question mark still is what’s under the hood, and that won’t be answered until this Corvette makes its official debut on October 26. We’re expecting a significant boost in output over the base C8 ‘Vette, but we aren’t exactly sure what will sit behind the driver to move the rear wheels.
