The 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06's $12,000 carbon fiber wheels are one of the car's coolest options, cutting 41 pounds of unsprung mass and spicing up the exterior design at the same time. But it seems dealerships aren't prepared to handle them.

Austin Everett, who goes by Speed Phenom on YouTube, found out the hard way after taking his Z06 to a dealership to get his tires swapped out. Everett says the machine Chevy recommends for the carbon wheels damaged the center bore of each wheel, shaving bits of carbon fiber and leaving nasty scars in the process. At one point, Everett says a dealership employee actually dropped a wheel onto the ground, marring the inner lip.

Despite the damage, Everett continued to take his Z06 to the dealership for tire swaps. He says the damage wasn't the dealership's fault, but rather the fault of Chevy for not creating specific service guidelines for Z06s, similar to what Ford has done with its half-million-dollar GT supercar.

Everett says he's working with the dealership to find a solution with regards to the damage, and also urges owners to be extra-careful with who you bring your carbon wheels to, lest they suffer the same fate.
