Chris Harris Is Getting His Own BBC America TV Show

From Road & Track

It's been a busy news week in the world of Top Gear. First, Chris Evans announced he was stepping down from his role as lead host Monday, then we heard Thursday that Matt LeBlanc would likely take over as chief host. Now, we have even more news, and it's inarguably good: Top Gear co-host Chris Harris is (finally) getting his own TV show! It's called, naturally, Chris Harris on Cars, and it's coming to BBC America as a seven-part TV series premiering next week.

Surprising no one who watched the Chris Harris on Cars YouTube series, Harris was a brilliant fit for Top Gear's big reboot, so it's great to see him rewarded with even more screen time. BBC America says the new TV show will be a continuation of CHoC, which explores sports cars in-depth with extensive testing and nerdy technical analysis.

The show is set to premier on July 11th at 9 p.m. ET, and the first season will run for seven episodes. It's unclear whether or not there will be overlap with Harris' new Topgear.com web series, Chris Harris Drives, which was also pitched as a continuation of his YouTube work. That show premiered last month with a test of the new Alfa Romeo Giulia QV.

In a statement sent to the press, Harris said of the show, "if wanton tire destruction, powerslides and continuous drooling over the world's fastest and most expensive road racers like the Porsche 911 GT3RS or the Aston Martin GT12 is your thing-you could do considerably worse than watch me put them through their respective paces on track and road on BBC America."
