Yahoo Autos Conan O'Brien Going 140 MPH on the Autobahn in a BMW i8 Is as Goofy as You'd Expect
Conan O'Brien recently filmed an episode of his show in the lovely German city of Berlin. But to get the most German of car guy experiences outside the Nurburgring, you have to leave the city and hit the derestricted autobahn.
BMW gave Conan an i8 and a pro-driver named Lars to show him the ropes of driving as fast as he dares on Germany's famous highways. Conan doesn't naturally give off an aura of being built for speed, maybe it's his goofiness or lankiness, but it doesn't seem like he'd be comfortable at more than a brisk walk, maybe a slow jog.
As it turns out, Conan is fine, but it's Lars that needs reassurance that his driver isn't going to kill him, especially when he's driving in the shoulder at just 30 mph or when he's asking McDonalds if the i8 "makes him sexy." It's a classic Conan sketch that's totally worth a watch.
