Yahoo Autos Daihatsu Made a Whopping 11 Concepts for the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show
Daihatsu is one of Japan's oldest engine manufacturers and a wholly owned subsidiary of Toyota today. The company built 1,154,414 cars between January and November this year, and will start the next one with 11 funky concepts showcasing what the Asian king of budget motoring can do on a shoestring.
For the Tokyo Motor Show, Daihatsu divided its entire lineup into four categories. As they point out, cars with the Sportza treatment and their red and black exteriors, golden wheels and sporty body kits should remind you of the Charade De Tomaso. The hot Charade they refer to was a turbocharged special edition in 1993 with 73 horsepower accompanied by Pirelli tires on Campagnolo rims and a Momo steering wheel. The Grand Custom versions represent kei car luxury and the suggestion of power without having any real performance upgrades:
The Beach Cruisin' models are all about, well, crusin' on the beach, with plenty of wood accents and chrome to go around.
Last but not least, there's the Cross Field line. Orange camouflage ready for the urban adventures "the adult hobbyists" will throw at it? You bet!
