Yahoo Autos DAMD Brings Rally Styling to Suzuki Jimny for 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon
Japanese tuner DAMD is bringing the rallying spirit to the Suzuki Jimny with a pair of body kits.
The first is called Little 5 and takes inspiration from the Renault 5 Turbo, while the second, called the Little Δ (Delta), draws inspiration from the Lancia Delta Integrale.
The tuning company has been releasing new body kits for the Jimny each year since 2019, and these new ones will arrive for the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon next month.
Japanese tuner DAMD is ringing in the new year with a pair of rally-inspired body kits for the Suzuki Jimny. For the past few years since the current-generation Jimny arrived, DAMD released a new retro body kit for the little Jimny every January.
This year the tuner's theme is "European Masterpiece." DAMD partnered with Italian wheel manufacturer Oz Racing to improve on the Jimny's adorable look with two legends of 1980s rallying. Both versions feature body-color painted fenders.
The first body kit, titled "Little 5," is based on the instantly recognizable Renault 5 Turbo. Comically, DAMD labels the Little 5 directly on the side as "Non Turbo" to avoid confusing any passersby. The Little 5 features rectangular headlights reminiscent of the French vehicle's. A rectangular radiator grille and a pair of amber fog lights further the Jimny's resemblance to the French standard. A small spoiler is fitted to the roof above the rear door to complete the transformation.
The second body kit features the on-the-nose title of "Little Δ" as the kit draws direct inspiration from the first generation of the Lancia Delta—specifically the Delta Integrale. While they're essentially the same changes, the Little Delta looks like a more aggressive transformation.
The Little Delta gets the four circular headlights along with the rectangular yellow fog lamps of the real thing. The radiator grille features a split down the middle—also like the real thing. Proving the Little Delta's racing-inspired heritage, there's even a racing stripe down the middle of the car and a massive rear wing mounted at the back of the roof.
The new kits are also a launching point for the new version of Oz Racing's iconic rally wheel. It's being offered in either gray with white stickers or white with red stickers and the wheels will be available to purchase separately. Unfortunately, while neither Jimny is getting any powertrain modifications to go along with the visual changes, each will be on display at the Tokyo auto salon next month.
