There are a lot of fun new convertibles out there, but if you'd rather have something old-school to enjoy the summer weather, we don't blame you. We think this fun little Datsun Roadster fits the bill perfectly. You should buy it.

Welcome to You Must Buy, our daily look at the cars you really should be buying instead of that boring commuter sedan.

According to the ad on Craigslist, this 1970 Datsun 1600 Roadster (also known as the Datsun Sports) underwent a full frame-off restoration in 2004, with fresh mechanicals and cosmetics. Even though the refresh is now 14 years old, the car still looks fresh, with an unmarked interior and shiny paint. The engine bay looks especially clean. The ad points out some minor dings and scratches, but otherwise, the car looks to be in excellent condition.

The only downsides to this car are those unfortunate-looking aftermarket LED headlights. While they undoubtedly improve nighttime vision, chances are there are other options out there that don't look nearly as cheap. If I bought this car, it's the first thing I'd change.

From the factory, the 1600 came with a 1.6-liter inline four making 95 horsepower. That may not sound like a lot, but in a car this small and light, it's more than enough to get the car out of its own way. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. Top speed is around 105 mph, though it's probably pretty sketchy at that speed.

If you're looking for a well-sorted drop-top two-seater, but aren't interested in cars like the MG B or even the Miata, this Datsun Roadster is a great alternative. Find it here on Craigslist in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with an asking price of $14,990.
