Friends, we gather here today to pay tribute to the passing of some beloved machines, their brief time upon this planet a reminder of our own mortality. Soon enough they will have disappeared from the showrooms, sprouted wings, and flown to that great scrapyard in the sky. Wait a minute—says here that two of these things are called Hellcats. Those aren't getting into car heaven.

Yes, the Dodge Charger and Challenger—in all their trims—leave us this year. So does its fancy-pants cousin the Chrysler 300. Other charismatic cars on the chopping block include the Audi R8 and Kia Stinger. And these are just a handful of the vehicles that bid adieu following the 2023 model year. Scroll through to see the rest.

Audi TT and TTS Coupe and Convertible

Audi's TT (and its more powerful TTS kin) takes its name from the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy, a challenging arena of speed most commonly associated with motorcycle racing. Audi was originally formed by a conglomeration of other companies, and one of those companies was NSU, which made both bikes and cars, including the NSU TT, based on the tiny, rear-engined Prinz sedan.

The fourth and final generation TT is underpinned by Volkswagen Group's MQB platform, which makes it essentially a prettier VW Golf. As a practical everyday sporty coupe or convertible (or roadster, as Audi markets the TT's drop-top body style), it was plenty of fun, though not really a proper rival to the likes of a Porsche 718 Boxster. That doesn't mean we won't miss this stylish two-door Audi.

Audi R8 Coupe and Convertible

It's not just the TT that Audi is pulling the plug on at the end of the 2023 model year. The luxury brand also calls it quits on the R8, the mid-engine coupe and convertible (or Spyder in Audi parlance) that first entered production for 2008. Of course, this isn't the exact same R8 as the original, with Audi redesigning the mid-engine sports car for the 2017 model year. Now, the R8's story comes to a close. A real shame, if you ask us.

Chevrolet Bolt EV

The most affordable electric vehicle of 2023 calls it quits. For now. Though Chevrolet intends to launch a second-generation Bolt, the brand has yet to share when exactly this next-gen battery-electric hatch arrives. We can confirm it won't be as a 2024 model, though.

Chevrolet Bolt EUV

Chevy's—temporarily—nixing the entire Bolt lineup, with the Bolt EUV getting kicked out the door with the end of the 2023 model year. Though we won't miss its middling driving dynamics, we will mourn the loss of another affordable long-range battery-electric vehicle.

Chrysler 300

Chrysler's two-car lineup for the 2023 model year (the Pacifica and 300) falls to just one for 2024 with the demise of the 300. The big rear-drive sedan never failed to endear us (at least when there was a V-8 under its hood), even if it long since started to show its age. To commemorate its run, Chrysler released a limited-edition 300C with a brawny 485-hp 6.4-liter V-8 under its hood. Expect the 300's successor to ditch the V-8 and embrace electrification when it arrives in the middle of the decade.

Dodge Charger

Like its Chrysler 300 cousin, the four-door Dodge Charger sedan bites the dust at the close of the 2023 model year. Despite its age, the Charger managed to keep things interesting with a number of V-8 variants over the years, including the more than 700-hp supercharged Charger SRT Hellcat.

Dodge Challenger

Though Dodge tinkered with the Challenger over the years, improving its interior and lightly updating its styling, the two-door muscle car's remained largely the same since its 2008 debut. No surprise, then, that the current-generation Charger is meeting its maker. Alas, Dodge has no immediate replacement ready for 2024; however, the battery-electric Charger Daytona SRT concept shows the brand has plans to eventually fill the Challenger's coupe-sized hole in its lineup.

Ferrari F8 Tributo

The Ferrari F8 lives on in drop-top Spider guise, but its coupe body style (or Tributo) is no more. In fact, Ferrari imported just one 2023 F8 Tributo before it ended production of the mid-engine eight-cylinder coupe.

Ford Transit Connect

The compact van market is no more. Following in the tread marks of the Chevrolet City Express, Nissan NV200, and Ram ProMaster City, the Ford Transit Connect goes the way of the dodo with the close of the 2023 model year. The Transit Connect was a great little workhorse for small businesses with urban operations and a flexible cargo area. Transit Connect buyers will now have to convert to the full-size Transit or make do with a compact pickup such as the Maverick.

Kia Rio

Kia's subcompact sedan and hatchback are reportedly no more, as the Rio goes away with the closing of the 2023 model year. The Rio was one of just three models available in 2023 with a starting price of less than $20,000. Despite its entry-level position in Kia's lineup, the Rio never felt like an entry-level car. Well, at least from the driver's seat. Sure, no one would confuse a Rio for a luxury vehicle, but compared to similarly priced competitors, such as the Mitsubishi Mirage hatchback and Mirage G4 sedan, this little Kia may as well have worn a Genesis badge.
