We know inflation has been out of control lately, but this 2024 Chevy Corvette E-Ray listed by a dealership for $389,995 is just ridiculous. What’s even better, the sports car isn’t even new but rather is listed as pre-owned. A lot of people are outraged by what they call an obvious case of price gouging, but we wonder if someone won’t pay that lofty price.

Rivian has decided to not build another factory, for now.

Realistically, the car likely had an MSRP somewhere around $150,000, give or take a little. In other words, the dealer (whom we’re not going to name but it’s readily available out there if you want to look) is probably wanting to make a tidy $200,000-plus off this deal.

Not too long ago, dealerships were doing this kind of thing with fairly normal vehicles as people lined up for the few new or newish cars that were available during all the covid insanity. But those days are long gone and the tables have turned. Now dealerships are flush with new cars, in fact many are absolutely overflowing, and buyers are scarce.

But it seems dealers will always try taking someone for a ride when there’s a highly desirable, limited-run vehicle like the C8 Corvette E-Ray. While not everyone’s excited about the first-ever hybrid, all-wheel-drive Corvette, there is demand which is outstripping supply, and so this is the result.

It’s also possible this sports car will sit for months before the dealer has to drop the price. After all, one could pick up a lightly used Lamborghini Huracan LP 580-2, Ferrari 488 GTB, McLaren 720S, or even a Ferrari 812 Superfast for less.

Unless you’re just a diehard Chevy fan and won’t look at other brands, plus can’t find another E-Ray for sale and don’t want to wait for some to filter into the market, we just can’t see anyone plopping down this kind of cash for one.
