Yahoo Autos Delridge Way SW gets major upgrades as project completed
The $49 million Delridge Way Southwest construction project in King County has been completed, giving the road some major upgrades.
The Seattle Department of Transportation hired contractor Jansen in June 2020. The project was completed on time during the West Seattle Bridge closure and pandemic.
Delridge Way SW now has new sidewalks, pavement, curbs and curb ramps, medians, sewer and water pipes, traffic signals, lighting, and a protected bike lane.
The project stretches more than 4 miles from the West Seattle Bridge to White Center along the Delridge Way Southwest corridor.
Paving the road required 27,000 cubic yards of concrete — 3,000 concrete truck loads — included 22 new bus stations, 100 ramps and 7 miles of new sidewalk.
King County Metro is in the process of installing the final bus shelters to prepare for a March 2023 launch of RapidRide H Line service.
According to Jansen, it is estimated that the upgrades will serve 187,000 travelers by 2035 and currently reduce travel times by 10% to 15% through dedicated bus lanes.

“New lighting and traffic signals improve pedestrian and bicycle safety and better connects the Delridge neighborhood with fast, more frequent transit service to downtown Seattle, South Lake Union, light rail links and other bus routes,” a news release from Jansen said.
