Drissi earns first pole since 2021 at Lime Rock Park

Tomy Drissi was fastest in the rainy qualifying session for today’s Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli at Lime Rock Park with a lap time of 57.888s in his No. 8 Franklin Road Apparel Chevrolet Camaro. This is Drissi’s first pole award running for his own team, Drissi Motorsports. It’s also his first pole since Road America in July 2021.

“First of all, we’re at Lime Rock Park and it’s Memorial Day, so we want to say thank you to all those who sacrificed everything for us to be able to do this and everything else we do in America,” said Drissi. “The fans have been great here. Yesterday in practice, [Chris] Dyson had a little bit on us. I mean, this is his place, right? It doesn’t matter where he goes, he’s fast. So now today, the rain came. A lot of the guys and girls on this team have been with me before, so we kind of knew what we like in the rain. I didn’t think we had it, but in the end, we had it today.

“We got it, and I got really lucky because Dyson started pushing, came in, and he was right in front of me. I was watching him, pacing him, and when they said ‘a minute to go,’ I said, ‘All right, this is the last lap.’ He almost got me at the end; it was really close. It’s great. Thank you to Trans Am, everybody here, and the whole Drissi Motorsports team. It’s Drissi Motorsports now, but that guy, Ken Thwaits, built this thing from scratch, and he’s still here as team principal. To him and all the boys and girls on the team, thank you so much. I want to say hi to my family at home, Lacey and Elin. Jagger’s here with me for the first time, just the boys. I also want to thank MAVTV, Lucas Oil, Franklin Road and Mission Foods.”
