The Electric Ram 1500 Gets Its Production Nameplate

The Ram 1500 Revolution BEV Concept gave us our first look at the automaker’s EV truck aspirations at CES 2023. With the Chicago Auto Show in full swing, Stellantis is now ready to share more about the production version of the concept slated to arrive next year. While specifics still remain in short supply, the automaker has confirmed that the brand’s first electric truck will wear the Ram 1500 Rev nameplate.

Stellantis had little to add to the announcement outside of the naming structure for the Ram 1500 Rev pickup. The name itself is interesting though, nodding to both the CES concept and internal combustion engines. We also know that the truck will wear Rev-specific badges, which look to be mounted on the flanks of its shapely hood. Fans need not fret about the current lack of information about the truck, as Ram has confirmed that it will be sharing more details about the Rev on February 12. Whether or not that refers to a simple Super Bowl commercial appearance will have to be seen.

What we do know is that Ram wants the Rev to be an imposing figure in the EV truck segment. The brand is targeting segment-leading figures in several major KPIs, including range, payload, towing capacity, and charge times. R&T also previously reported that while the CES concept is not a near-production interpretation, Ram intends for the exterior styling of the production truck to be quite similar to the Revolution BEV. That said, don’t expect some of the concept's more wild features to make it to production. We wouldn’t count on seeing a coach door setup without B pillars to make it to the Ram 1500 Rev, though something like third-row seating could be an interesting feature. For now, we’re just going to have to wait and see how much of the concept is viable and what gets left on the design studio floor.
