Ever Wonder What Music F1 Drivers Like to Listen To?
F1 makes its annual visit to the United States this month. The October 21-23 stop at Circuit of The Americas in Austin, TX., has become a festival of exhaust notes and major musical acts, and this year's concert package includes Taylor Swift and The Weeknd to support the Grand Prix field, vintage Formula 1 cars, and the Porsche Supercup series.
Having dubbed itself the "American Sound Track," COTA went a step further and asked each of the 20 F1 drivers to supply three songs for a mythical drive across the U.S., and the results range from predictable to bizarre.
(My respect for Daniil Kyvaat just quadrupled, by the way.)

Electric GT
If you hate everything about the all-electric FIA Formula E open-wheel series, would it make a difference of the same electro-hum and tire squeals were repackaged in a fleet of 20 race-prepped Teslas?
That's what the founders and financiers of the new Electric GT Championship are hoping for when the series launches "the first all-electric GT series" at some point in 2017. The Tesla S P85+ "EGT" models will be campaigned by 10 two-car teams, and so far, IndyCar driver Stefan Wilson, GP3's Vittoria Piria, F1 test driver Dani Clos, and all-rounder Leilani Munter have been announced.
Unlike its well-funded open-wheel counterpart, the EGT does not have a television distribution deal with a major network for its debut season. Those interested can "stream races via Periscope, Twitch and YouTube, as well as interact directly with the teams using social media platforms," according to the series.
Long on promotion and short on substance the series made its formal launch in Ibiza on Sept. 27 where a few dozen locals and members of the media joined 885 web viewers (according to Periscope) to see the cover come off a wrapped Tesla S P85+ EGT

With the addition of an actual racing calendar and the confirmation of the final 16 drivers, we might have something more to talk about.
The Pirelli World Challenge Get Down
It isn't Ibiza, but I'll take Monterey and 120 all-non-electric GT and touring cars over smoke and mirrors any day. Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is the site for this weekend's SCCA Pro Racing Pirelli World Challenge season finale, and if you have the chance, it would be well worth a visit to see everything from Honda Fits to Nissan GT-Rs smack the living daylights out of each other for our amusement.
If an impromptu blast to California isn't an option, watch three days of action here.
Son of Godzilla
Nissan (V8) Supercars driver Michael Caruso will carry a tribute livery for this month's Bathurst 1000 that honors Mark Skaife's 1991 Bathurst-winning GT-R 32, and the two got together to look through the iconic beast:
