The AMC Pacer Used In Wayne's World Sold for $37,400
James Bond's Aston Martins are fine, but honestly, they don't hold a candle to this, the actual AMC Pacer used in Wayne's World. It just sold for $37,400, and I'm incredibly jealous of its new owner. After all, it's the same car featured in the movie's amazing Bohemian Rhapsody scene, and who wouldn't want that?
The Pacer crossed the block to Barrett-Jackson's Las Vegas auction this past weekend, and is fresh off a restoration. Both the exterior and interior were refinished to look exactly as appeared in the movie, and the motor and front end were given a mechanical freshening.
The roof-mounted licorice dispenser installed by main charecter Garth Algar is present, though the radio was replaced with a modern CD player. For maximum accuracy, the buyer will need to pick up a cassette deck.
Insurance company Hagerty estimates a Pacer of this vintage is worth around $5000, so the seller made off quite nicely.
