When it comes to street cars, lap times aren't all that important. Sure, manufacturers use the Nurburgring as a benchmark, but in reality, not many people buy their cars to set times at their local track. But who cares, we still want to know which is the fastest.

German publication Sport Auto decided to find out which car is the fastest around Hockenheim among the new Audi TT RS, Lotus Exige Sport 380, and Porsche 718 Boxster S. All three share a door count, but not much else.

The Exige is a purpose built track machine, with a minimal interior, a bunch of aero, and a 375-horsepower supercharged V6. The TT RS and 718, however, take a more dual-purpose approach. Both cars have more sound deadening and an overall more luxurious interior, making them heavier and softer. Additionally, the Audi carries an all-wheel-drive system and two extra seats, meaning even more weight to fling around the circuit.

That doesn't mean you should discount them from track duty, though. The Porsche's stability lets it handle rumble strips with ease, while the Audi's AWD gives it all the grip in the world.

Watch as all three cars battle it out to see which is fastest on the track.
