Seemingly the only positive XE attribute not offset by a corresponding demerit (see: engine lineup, cabin space, trunk space, and infotainment) is its styling. The car is extremely handsome, with clean lines, great proportions, and tidy detailing.

What’s New for 2018?

Not wanting to fix what isn’t broken, Jaguar’s stylists have left good enough alone for 2018, electing to let the XE’s appearance ride into 2018 unchanged. What is new, though, is a power-operated trunklid that opens with a quick wave of your foot under the bumper. It’s a handy feature that’s optional on Prestige, R Sport, and S models and standard on the new luxury-oriented XE Portfolio.

Exterior Features

The XE puts Jaguar’s latest face on full display, with squinting headlights, an upright, open grille, and a powerful hood hinting at the car’s sporting potential. A variety of wheel designs and sizes are available, ranging from 17 to 20 inches. Jaguar’s signature J-blade LED running lights, embedded in the headlights, are optional, part of a $2400 Vision package that also includes headlights that steer as you turn the front wheels.
