Its styling is sleek and sinewy, if a bit mild, and even base LaCrosse trims are well dressed, so you’ll never look cheap. Exterior dimensions are substantial, but it doesn’t feel like it from behind the wheel.

What’s New for 2018?

Buick has unveiled the Avenir trim for 2018, a supposed ultra-luxury trim. In addition to a few interior luxuries, it adds several exterior garnishments including unique 19-inch wheels, a chrome grille insert, and Avenir badging. Three new colors join the roster: Satin Steel Metallic, Dark Slate Metallic, and Red Quartz Tintcoat.

Buick’s biggest sedan is large even by segment standards and is in fact the second-longest car in this matchup. Despite its size, the LaCrosse feels maneuverable, and parking in tight spots isn’t as difficult as expected.

This latest-generation LaCrosse is a handsome car. Its designers kept a lot of what we liked about the previous model and modernized it for 2017. Carefully surfaced sheetmetal on the body sides meets subtly flared rear fenders and a kicked-up rear quarter-window. The design is successful and should appeal to current LaCrosse owners as well as those new to the brand. Aluminum wheels, fog lamps, and automatic grille shutters that enhance aerodynamics are standard; a panoramic sunroof is optional on Essence and Premium trims.
