From Road & Track

Shortly after announcing his 2017 break from F1, British driver Jenson Button said he planned on doing some rallycross racing in his downtime. Button is already making good on his word-he's currently testing Honda's Red Bull Global Rallycross Civic at Sebring. Does that mean we could see Button racing in the US this year?

GRC drive would be unusual for Button, whose tarmac-based career and previous F1 salaries are both worlds apart from Global Rallycross. But as NBC Sports points out, the team that fields the Civic in the series, Olsbergs MSE, has yet to announce its 2017 driver lineup.

In any case, Button is clearly having fun.

Button is technically staying with McLaren-Honda F1 as its reserve driver for the 2017 season, but it seems increasingly improbable that he'll find his way into F1 competition anytime soon. A GRC drive would keep Button in the Honda family, while satiating his desire for competition.

We're not going to get our hopes up too high for this one, but how cool would it be to see Button up against Tanner Foust?
