F1 Driver Kevin Magnussen Couldn't Get Insurance on a McLaren 650S

From Road & Track

Here's an interesting predicament you will assuredly never encounter in your life: Former McLaren F1 driver Kevin Magnussen wasn't able to get a 650S company car during his time at McLaren, a traditional perk for team members, because he was too young to be insured affordably. To add to the insult, by the time McLaren was finally able to get the insurance sorted, Magnussen was fired.

Autoweek reports that Magnussen, who joined Renault this season, first told the press the story this week. He said that he never received the 650S despite the fact that he had picked out "the color, the wheels, the interior, everything." By contrast, his 36-year-old teammate Jenson Button had no trouble getting his 650S.

"Jenson Button had one without difficulty, but because Kevin Magnussen is so young, it was difficult to find an insurance policy that would cover it for a reasonable amount of money," said a McLaren spokesperson.

We doubt Magnussen will have these troubles with Renault.
