The F1-Engined Mercedes-AMG Hypercar Will Make Around 1000 Horsepower
Last month, Mercedes-AMG finally confirmed that it will be developing a mid-engine hypercar using its Formula 1 engine and hybrid system. Today, AMG division head Tobias Moers has told reporters it will have an astonishing 1000-horsepower output.
Speaking with Autocar, Moers confirmed the 1000-horsepower number, denying other reports stating the rear-wheel-drive, 11,000 rpm-redline car would instead have around 1200 horsepower.
The four-digit power figure, while fairly ludicrous, would slot the F1-engined AMG right next to current hypercars like the Porsche 918 Spyder, Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1, and upcoming Aston Martin AM-RB 001.
According to Autocar, Moers also said just "200-300" units will be produced, making it even more exclusive than some of the unicorns above.
