Fall River couple indicted a second time in David Almond abuse case

Good morning, Fall River! Today is Wednesday, Nov. 17. Halfway through the week, and, this might be hard to believe, but Thanksgiving is next week! We're still working on our menus, but dessert just might be that giant Reese's cup everyone's talking about.

The Fall River couple accused of starving to death the man’s 14-year-old autistic son, David Almond, and severely abusing one of his brothers, were back in Bristol County Superior Court on Monday. In separate hearings, John Almond and Jacyln Marie Coleman each pleaded not guilty on a second indictment that includes two charges each for reckless endangerment of a child and possessing a Class A substance. Fall River and New Bedford would remain in different Congressional districts under a revised map released on Monday by legislative leaders that disregarded the pressure being applied by some activists and lawmakers, including U.S. Rep. William Keating, to unite to the two SouthCoast cities. The revised map, released by the Special Committee on Redistricting, could surface for a vote in the House soon.
