Faraday Future's Own Video Claims Car That May or May Not Exist Could Be Quicker To 60 Than a Model X, Maybe

From Road & Track

You might have heard of Faraday Future, the mysterious Chinese-backed electric car company that has grand plans for a $1 billion factory in Nevada and a new electric car that they say will blow the doors off of anything and everything that's out there.

The issue is that so far they have very little evidence that they're going to create something great. What we've seen is a model of a car that they'll never build, a bunch of very short teasers that really aren't even worth discussing, and we've heard about executives leaving and a work stoppage at their Nevada mega-ultra-giga-super factory.

A week or so ago they released a video teasing a video of their prototype drag racing a Ferrari 488, Bentley Bentayga, and a Tesla Model X P100D. Now they've released the full video, and instead of a real drag race, it's a race to 60. Guess what? In this race to 60, the Faraday Future car is quicker than all the competitors. Crazy that their own video would say it's quicker, right?

But it's not a true drag race. It's not a quarter mile. A car optimized for acceleration to 60 could fall flat on its face when it gets going any faster. That's why Teslas are good at the drag strip off the line but lose ground the entire rest of the run.

Is the Faraday Future car quick off the line? Yes. Yes it is. Do they give us the actual time to 60? Nah. This is yet another teaser for a CES debut of the car, which we've heard could be make or break for the company. We'll see just how real they are in a few weeks.
