Yahoo Autos Ferrari Won't Set a Nurburgring Lap Time With the FXX K, Stop Asking
If you're in the market for a cost-is-no-object track car, it's hard to do much better than the Ferrari FXX K. It's a track-only version of the Ferrari LaFerrari that costs $3 million, makes 1036 horsepower, and has to be left with the company when you're not driving it. But if you thought Ferrari would attempt to set a Nurburgring lap record with the FXX K, you'd be wrong.
Speaking to Top Gear, the head of Ferrari's XX program Enrico Galliera said that unlike the 599XX, the FXX K won't be headed to the Green Hell. According to Galliera, Ferrari is much more concerned with the driving experience, rather than lap times.
"The key for us is to have our clients drive our cars after the competitors and climb out saying 'wow, this is the one.' It's not about the fastest timed lap, it's about the feeling the car gives you. The sound of this V12 is all part of the experience, it's like an old F1 car," he said.
That experience may actually get even more raw and hardcore once Ferrari finishes up deliveries of the FXX K.
"Even for the FXX K we are thinking about potential evolutions, but we don't have it yet ... once we finish build and delivery, then we will really start work on how to improve it," said Galliera.
So does that mean there will be an even more extreme Ferrari FXX K Evoluzione? We sure hope so.
