The Flat Out Autos KR2 Is The New K5 Blazer Chevrolet Refuses To Sell
Allegedly, Chevrolet still makes a Blazer that it would be happy to sell you. Unfortunately for fans of the old body-on-frame K5 Blazer, the current one just isn’t it. Sure, it says Blazer on the back, but it’s a front-wheel-drive-based crossover, and you can’t even get it with the V8. You can also get it as an EV, but if you still want that old-school K5 Blazer feel in a new vehicle, Flat Out Autos brought something to SEMA this year that might just scratch that itch for you.
Called the KR2, it’s essentially the new K5 Blazer that Chevrolet refuses to build. The Drive reports that it’s based on a Chevrolet Silverado 1500. It reportedly now has 37-inch Nitto Trail Grappler Tires, a long-travel suspension, custom coilovers and a supercharged 5.3-liter V8. So it’s not quite a Silverado ZR2, but it’s close enough.
