Florida Woman Chases Down Her Dad’s Stolen Semi-Truck

A 22-year-old South Florida woman was shocked when she recently spotted her dad’s stolen semi-truck while driving with a friend on the Palmetto Expressway. Instead of just waiting for the police to do something, she gave chase in a much smaller vehicle.

Watch a Camaro cut off a semi-truck.

We’re guessing adrenaline kicked in when the woman saw her father’s stolen livelihood rolling down the road. Some people obviously would not want to risk chasing after a criminal, especially when they’re in a big rig which could do some serious damage, but this woman put all that aside to make sure the guy didn’t get away.

While she was chasing the semi, she told local news station WPLG she called her dad to ask him what to do. He wisely counseled her to hang up and call 911. She did and kept following, saying she chased the truck for somewhere between 20 and 30 minutes. But that’s not where the story ends.

The thing is police were also in smaller vehicles and the suspect seemed to understand that. Even when they got out of the patrol cars and pointed guns at him, the guy took off in the semi.

Sadly, the report doesn’t say how police finally caught the suspect. Did he run out of fuel? Did they spike the tires? We don’t know and that’s one of the most important parts of the story to us.

Even with that big detail glaringly omitted, it’s great to see this woman take charge and help ensure the guy driving her dad’s truck didn’t slip away from the law. She said at one point the guy took an awkward turn and she had to follow, making her suspect he would figure out she was in fact following him. We’d be willing to bet he did that on purpose.

She must’ve been cautious enough to not pull up parallel with the semi or get too close behind it, otherwise the story could’ve ended badly. But there’s always a risk with trying to chase down thieves, so keep that in mind if you ever find yourself in a similar situation.
