Ford Drops F-150 Lightning Prices By About $10,000Ford

Prices for Ford's F-150 Lightning have been cut by as much as $9979 across the lineup. While the latest decrease starts to roll back a year of consistent price increases, the average Lightning is still effectively $10,000 more today than it would have been when pricing was initially announced.

Price decreases are headlined by the $9979 change for the Pro trim, the most basic Lightning geared toward fleet buyers. XLT variants see decreases from $8479 to $9479, Lariats are down by $6979, and the Platinum Extended Range goes down by a smaller $6079. That means the cheapest consumer-facing F-150 Lightning, the $56,990 XLT311A, is still substantially more expensive than the cheapest gas-powered XLT-spec F-150 at $41,800 even after factoring in a potential $7500 EV tax credit.

F-150 Lightning pricing has been unusually volatile over the past year for any product, let alone something as typically stable as a Ford truck. In August 2022, prices went up by up to $8500 across the lineup due to what Ford called an increase in material prices. That was followed by another increase of $5000 in October, with that change linked to both material costs and "ongoing supply chain constraints." Major price increases followed again in December and March, taking the fleet-focused Pro work truck trim level from a starting price of $41,769 to $61,869 in less than a year. This latest price change brings that Pro trim level down to $51,990, about on par with what the truck would have cost after the second raise in October.
