The Ford F-150 Limited Is Getting the Raptor’s Engine
You can’t get the desert-pounding Ford F-150 Raptor with niceties such as massaging seats, but now you can get the next best thing. For 2019, Ford is adding the Raptor’s twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 with 450 horsepower to the F-150 Limited. That gives the glitziest F-150 75 more ponies than before, as it previously used the standard-output version of the EcoBoost engine. It also presents a new combination of the Raptor engine with rear-wheel drive, as the Limited is available in 4x2 as well as 4x4 form. Burnouts, anyone?
The only visual indicator of the Raptor-ized F-150 Limited is the set of dual exhaust pipes out back. The truck is otherwise just as unassuming as last year’s F-150 Limited, which admittedly does incorporate a heaping helping of chrome trim, including L-I-M-I-T-E-D spelled out across the hood. In addition to previous standard features such as a panoramic sunroof, a microsuede headliner, and adaptive cruise control, the 2019 edition now comes with front seats that incorporate the aforementioned massaging feature.
Ford isn’t saying yet how much more the invigorated 2019 F-150 Limited will cost, but we’ll bet the asking price will be a few thousand dollars higher than before. The 2018 model started at $62,855 with rear-wheel drive and $66,280 with four-wheel drive, so the new version could be pushing $70,000. We’ll find out more details closer to when the 2019 F-150 Limited goes on sale at the end of this year.
