Ford, Hyundai, and GM Headline List of Memorial Day Discounts for Military Service Members
Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of summer, but more than that, it is a day to honor all those who have served and are serving in the U.S. military. In response, many automakers are serving up discounts and special savings to attract buyers and move new cars and trucks off their lots. Hyundai, Ford, Chevrolet, and Mitsubishi are all offering extra Memorial Day discounts for the men and women who have served. While there is an assortment of discounts for the general public, here are several that solely benefit military service members.

Ford and Lincoln
Ford and Lincoln already offer a $500 military discount called Military Appreciation Bonus Cash, which is exclusively for those serving on active duty, members of the delayed entry/enlistment program, veterans within 24 months of separation, retirees, spouse or surviving spouse, and other household members. However, the Blue Oval and its luxury corporate sibling are also offering between $750 and $1000 to veterans as well as first responders. That means an impressive savings of up to $1500 that can be applied to models such as the Ford Expedition.

Hyundai and Genesis
Hyundai is offering added savings for active, veteran, or retired military members during the holiday. While the company normally offers a $500 military rebate, the Korean automaker is increasing that discount on all models to $1000 from now until June 3. That deal can also be applied to all Genesis models such as the Genesis G70, which earned a spot on our 2019 10Best Cars list.

General Motors
The General normally offers a $500 military discount on models from Buick, Cadillac, Chevy, and GMC. That deal increases by another $500 for eligible men and women who have served or are serving, and the deal runs until the end of May. Simple math will show that equals a total savings of $1000, which can be applied to a variety of new GM models that include the 2020 GMC Sierra and the 2019 Chevy Corvette.

15. Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross – 17 (tie)
Mitsubishi's newest small SUV in the U.S. is the Eclipse Cross, which revives an iconic name once affixed to the brand's Eclipse sport coupe. The Eclipse Cross is not, as you can see, a "coupe" in the traditional sense, but it tries to achieve the spicier visual drama of other "crossover coupes" on the market, with a faster roofline than the otherwise similar Outlander Sport. That raked tail contributes to the Mitsubishi's last-place showing among its compact competitors, however—the Eclipse Cross can only fit 17 carry-on bags.

Toyota
While Toyota doesn't appear to have any Memorial Day–specific deals, the automaker does offer a regular $500 military rebate. It's available to active service members, household members of eligible military personnel, retirees, and veterans within two years of discharge. Perhaps that money could be put toward the all-new 2020 Toyota Supra, which accelerated from zero to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds in our instrumented testing and overdelivered on its power rating during a dyno test. We can't think of anybody who deserves it more.
These holiday deals can help save as much as $1500 on a shiny new car for those who serve.
