Ford Mustang, Escape, Focus, C-MAX, Transit Connect, Lincoln MKC recalled: 830,000 vehicles affected

Ford is recalling nearly 830,000 vehicles registered in North America to replace their side-door latches. According to the automaker, the recall is currently limited to warmer and/or sunnier states, as reports of latch failures have been higher in those areas.

The problem with the door latches is rooted in their pawl spring tab. If that particular element breaks, it will usually prevent passengers from latching their doors. In some cases, though, it may allow doors to unlatch while a vehicle is in motion. So far, Ford knows of one accident and one injury that may be related to the latch problem.
