Ford recalls 433K vehicles amid body control issues

A defect in certain Ford models can lead to engines staying on after the ignition key is turned to the "off" position and removed.


Ford (F) on Thursday recalled 433,000 vehicles in North America for a body control module issue.

The safety recall covers certain 2015 Focus, C-MAX and Escape vehicles. A defect can lead to engines staying on after the ignition key is turned to the "off" position and removed, raising concerns about theft and cars rolling away.

Customers can get body control module software replaced at dealers for no cost, Ford said.

Ford shares were slightly lower in Thursday morning trading.
