Fuel Economy and Driving Range
Fuel Economy and Driving Range Rating:
Do you care a lot about fuel economy? Then don’t invest in the Grand Cherokee SRT or Trackhawk. Both of these gas guzzlers have low EPA estimates and the worst real-world results among these competitors.
Unsurprisingly, the SRT has better EPA estimates than the Trackhawk. Still, the SRT version is one of the least efficient vehicles in the set.
Fuel Economy Ratings Compared
We’ve devised our own fuel-economy test in an attempt to replicate how most people drive on the highway. Our procedure entails a 200-mile out-and-back loop on Michigan’s I-94 highway. We maintain a GPS-verified 75 mph and use the cruise control as much as possible to mimic the way many drivers behave during long trips.
Neither Jeep exceeded its EPA highway estimate on our fuel loop, and similar rivals were between 3 and 5 mpg better.
