Yahoo Autos Ximena Perez, 2, dies after being struck by vehicle in 3100 block of S.E. California Avenue
A 2-year-old girl died after being struck by a vehicle early Tuesday afternoon in the 3100 block of S.E. California Avenue, said Rosie Nichols, public safety communications specialist for Topeka's city government.
She identified the girl on Wednesday as Ximena Perez, of Topeka.
Nichols said Topeka police planned, once they completed their investigation, to forward reports to the Shawnee County District Attorney’s office.
That office was then expected to determine whether criminal charges would be filed.
Police had made contact with everyone involved, Nichols said.
No further information, including the name of the driver and the circumstances of the crash, was being made public.
Traffic was blocked off in the hours after the crash on both the northbound and southbound lanes of S.E. California Avenue in the area involved.
