Gone In 2 Minutes: $130,000 Dodge Hellcat

As the end of the insane era of high-powered Dodge muscle cars using Hemi engines comes to a close, everyone seems to want to get their hands on one. Unfortunately, that includes thieves stealing them. In a case that’s shocking plenty of people, a dealer had a $130,000 Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye Widebody swiped in just 2 minutes from a Comodo Motors in Kent County, Michigan.

According to an MLive report, the thieves didn’t break into the Mopar muscle car to steal it, but instead climbed underneath, hacking a computer module to program a new key fob they brought along. We’ve seen this trick before, but usually thieves break into the cabin and do the reprogramming from there, which does risk setting off the alarm.

The heist went down at just past 4 am on May 10 as the Hellcat Redeye sat in the dealership parking lot. Sadly, many dealers have become targets of brazen thefts in the wee hours of the morning when nobody is around, so this doesn’t shock us one bit.
