Haas-supported driver Chloe Chambers claimed her maiden F1 Academy victory at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Sunday.

Chambers, 20, joined F1 Academy for 2024 with Campos Racing, and is being backed by Haas, as part of the arrangement whereby each Formula 1 team supports an F1 Academy driver.

Chambers followed up a first podium at the previous round in Miami with another third position in Saturday’s Race 1, with Alpine’s Abbi Pulling again triumphant, and Nerea Marti second. But the American turned the tables in Race 2 on Sunday by out-gunning Pulling off the line to take the lead.

Chambers controlled proceedings during the 16-lap race, held in advance of the Spanish Grand Prix, and also registered the fastest lap, to beat Pulling by 6.6 seconds.

Chambers is tied for second in the championship, alongside Mercedes-backed Doriane Pin, on 81 points, albeit with runaway title leader Pulling 66 points ahead on 147.

Chambers’ compatriot, Williams-backed American Lia Block, also claimed her best finish of the season in Barcelona. Block, the daughter of the late great Hoonigan driver Ken Block, races for ART Grand Prix and finished in sixth position.

F1 Academy’s next event will be held alongside Formula 1’s Dutch Grand Prix, at Zandvoort, at the end of August.
