Formula One used to be totally closed off. Other than the radio transmissions we'd hear during the race, we wouldn't get more insight into what the drivers were saying to their teams. But the new owners of the series, Liberty Media, have been trying to get fans closer to the action by releasing more behind-the-scenes videos and audio, like team radio after the races.

And if you thought that the drivers were robots with no emotions, you'd be wrong. Particularly during this weekend's US Grand Prix.

The team radio that Formula One just released really gives you some insight into what each driver is like over the course of the weekend, and it sounds like Grosjean might not be a joy to deal with.

On the very last lap of the race, Grosjean is incessantly complaining about the car over the radio. The tires are gone and he wants to retire the car, but he's not saying it in a way that's endearing at all. At one point over the radio, one of the engineers just goes "shhhh.... shut up!" Grosjean responds by saying that he's risking his life, which is true, but he changes his tune when he hears that the checkered flag is literally in a few corners.

It's a fascinating exchange, as are the rest of the transmissions which range from drivers calling each other idiots to Daniel Ricciardo being overjoyed by his qualifying performance.
