Hamilton Takes Pole for Home Grand Prix at Silverstone

From Road & Track

Lewis Hamilton has won yet another Formula 1 pole, the 55th of his career, but teammate and Total Ross Of the Group Nico Rosberg isn't far behind.

With Mercedes in their third year of competing on their own plane, the pair simply can't escape one another. As their rivalry becomes the championship battle, these one-two starts will become more and more hostile as they become more and more important in deciding races. Nico Rosberg's lead is just eleven points, and with the difference between first and second swinging that by seven points at any given moment, the first one off the line may well be the champion.

Behind the Mercedes pair, Daniel Ricciardo leads the Red Bull contingent on the second row, ahead of the newly-extended Kimi Raikkonen and his Ferrari teammate Sebastian Vettel on the third row. Just behind the unusually organized top tier is the ever-scrambled second tier of teams, with Williams driver Valtteri Bottas leading the group in seventh ahead of a Force India, a Toro Rosso, and a McLaren.

The British Grand Prix goes green at 8:00 AM EST Sunday.
