Hawksworth to make NASCAR Truck Series debut at COTA

Jack Hawksworth will make his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut at Circuit of the Americas with TRICON Garage.

Hawksworth, the defending IMSA GTD Pro champion for Vasser Sullivan, will drive the No. 1 Toyota Tundra. Mobil 1 will sponsor Hawksworth’s effort in the March 23rd race.

The 33-year-old previously made a NASCAR Xfinity Series start in 2019, when he qualified second in a Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota Camry and finished 15th. Hawksworth is also a former NTT IndyCar Series competitor, running three full seasons from 2014 through 2016.

“I’m super stoked to be joining TRICON Garage and piloting the No. 1 Mobil 1 Toyota Tundra at COTA,” Hawksworth said. “The truck looks awesome. I’m looking forward to stepping back into the NASCAR world, working with the team leading up to the race weekend and then going out there and getting after it. COTA is a fun, technical track and one that should be challenging to tame a stock car at. A big thank you to everyone at TRD, Lexus, Mobil 1 and TRICON for making this possible. I can’t wait to get started.”

An ace in the sports car ranks, Hawksworth has earned 11 wins, 10 poles, and 25 podiums in IMSA.

TRICON Garage will run multiple drivers in its No. 1 truck this season. Tony Breidinger drove the truck at Daytona International Speedway to open the season before Colby Howard took over for the race at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Christopher Bell got behind the wheel last weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
