Hellcat Driver Caught Going 165 MPH Gets Off With a $450 Ticket
The speed limit along Oklahoma's H. E. Bailey Turnpike is 75 mph. Generous for a freeway, sure. On Thursday, a Challenger Hellcat driver was allegedly caught at 165 mph along that road. That, as it turns out, will still get you pulled over.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol let the driver off with just a citation for speeding. In a tweet shared by the department, the driver was cited only for a violation of going "41 mph or over" the limit, with no multipliers or additions for the extra 49 mph past that benchmark. In other words, at that point, the difference between the penalty for going 116 mph and 165 mph is free.
This is extremely dangerous. Trooper Forest White #651 stopped a Dodge Challenger Hellcat on the H.E. Bailey Turnpike in Cotton County at mile marker 10 for 165 mph in a 75 mph zone. The driver now has to pay a $449 ticket. pic.twitter.com/glgSLchNhV
