Horacio Pagani always builds beautiful cars, but man, the new Huayra Roadster is a particular knockout. The Huayra Coupe looked fantastic as-is, but the drop-top is damn near perfect. The Huayra Roadster makes its debut in picture form today, before its in-the-carbon-fiber unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show next month.

It'd be easy to dismiss this as the "regular" Huayra with the roof chopped off, but a lot of all-new engineering went into the Roadster's development. One of Mr. Pagani's main goals for the Huayra Roadster was to build a car that was both lighter than the coupe and more rigid. The company did it using a carbon fiber-titanium hybrid, and a new material called Carbo-Triax HP52. As a result, the Huayra Roadster weighs 80 kg (176 lbs) less than the Coupe and offers more torsional rigidity.

The Huayra Roadster also gets big hardware upgrades over the Coupe, sourced in part from the track-ready Huayra BC. Its Mercedes-AMG-built twin-turbo V12 engine produces 764 horsepower and is mated to the same XTrac seven-speed single-clutch gearbox used in the Huayra BC. A new aluminum alloy, dubbed HiForg, was developed specifically for the Roadster's suspension components, helping to reduce weight significantly.

Huayra Roadster buyers have a choice of either Pirelli P-Zero Corsas designed specifically for Pagani, or P-Zero Trofeo Rs. Brakes are carbon ceramic units by Brembo.

The Roadster comes with two different roofs as well–one is made from carbon fiber and features a glass window, while the other is a fabric unit that can be stored in the car.

How much for all this madness? Pagani lists the Huayra Roadster at € 2,280,000, or roughly $2.4 million USD. Sheesh. Just 100 examples will be built, and unsurprisingly, all are already sold out.

We'll get our first peak at the Huayra Roadster at the Geneva Motor Show next month. We can't wait.
