Here's How Acura Turned the NSX Into a GT3 Race Car

From Road & Track

Acura makes a big deal of the NSX's hybrid all-wheel-drive system, but for its new GT3 race car, the automaker abandoned all that for some old-school, rear-drive goodness. That said, the NSX GT3 still has plenty in common with its street car counterpart, as Acura race driver Ryan Eversley will show you.

Eversley gives a walk-around tour of the new NSX GT3 in this video from our friends at Racer, highlighting all the changes that make the road car into a GT3 racer. The two cars share door handles, but more importantly, the GT3 uses a tuned version of the NSX's stock engine, complete with factory turbochargers.

Otherwise, the NSX GT3 gets its own bespoke carbon fiber bodywork, high-downforce aerodynamics, and an XTrac racing gearbox in place of the street car's nine-speed dual-clutch. A non-hybrid, rear-drive NSX road car is said to be in development, so perhaps it'll use tech trickled down from the race car.
