Here's How You Can Reserve a Brand-New Delorean

From Road & Track

Earlier this year, we reported the news that the mighty DeLorean DMC-12 was making a comeback ... of sorts. Thanks to a piece of legislation passed last year, the U.S.-based DeLorean Motor Company–which owns the DeLorean name and a cache of original DMC-12 parts–announced that it would start building a run of brand-new DMC-12s built from original parts in the coming months. The new run of cars isn't here yet, but if you want to reserve one, now you can.

The DeLorean Motor Company opened up a pre-order interest application Monday for those who want to reserve a continuation-series DMC-12. It's not technically a pre-order because, as DeLorean details, the options and pricing for new DMC-12s haven't yet been finalized. Those who fill out the interest application will, however, be able to order their cars before the general public.

As we reported previously, a brand-new DMC-12 will likely cost around $100,000, with plans to build 300-350 over the next six years. The company initially planned to begin production early in 2017, but encountered setbacks with parts suppliers and regulatory boards.

For the first year of production, DeLorean plans to build one car per month, speeding up to one car a week in the following years.

The DeLorean Motor Company is known for performing high quality restorations on original DMC-12s, so the continuation series cars should be top notch. If you want a "new" DeLorean, fill out the form here.
