Here's How Porsche Made the Second-Generation Panamera Gorgeous

From Road & Track

When it debuted last month, Porsche spoke at length about how its new Panamera is dynamically an improvement over the last-generation, but since we haven't driven it yet, we can't confirm this. What we can confirm is that it's much better to look at than its predecessor. It carries the same basic shape as the first-generation Panamera, but somehow, it just works more cohesively.

Porsche just released a video detailing the Panamera's design process, which offers unique insight into the subtle details that make this sedan what it is. The Panamera is fairly tall as sedans go, but Porsche reduced its "optical height" by emphasizing width over anything else. Clearly, Porsche stylists have taken a page out of the Pontiac playbook.

The video also highlights some other seemingly innocuous details that help define the car. Yes, it's basically an ad for Porsche, but there's definitely interesting information to be gleaned here.
