Here's Your Very First Look at Part of the Next McLaren Supercar

From Road & Track

We've known for a while that McLaren has a replacement coming for the venerable 650S. Rumored to be called either the P14 or the 720S, we've seen it out testing several times. Today, McLaren released its first official teaser photo-a glimpse of the car's wing.

But while we can't see much, the rest of the release makes it clear that the 720S will be an aerodynamic powerhouse. The wing itself can move up and increase its angle to deliver the downforce the driver needs, or tilt to act as an air brake, stabilizing the car under heavy braking.

Even the doors count as aerodynamic devices, with a new duct that draws air out of the front wheel wells to improve downforce. Combined with other aero improvements, McLaren says the new car will generate 50 percent more downforce than the 650S.

All this airflow comes with serious cooling needs-McLaren claims the upcoming supercar has a 15-percent improvement in cooling compared to the 650S.

Look for the 720S to make its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show on March 7th.
