Seeing a dragster pop a wheelie at the beginning of the race is perfectly normal. Seeing one wheelie for the entire run, however, is not. That's what makes this Mustang's 1/8th-mile wheelie so extraordinary.

This race was filmed at Lights Out 8, a drag-race event held at Georgia Motorsports Park last weekend. As reported by Fox Sports, the driver of the wheelie-poppin' Mustang was J.R. Pines, a racer from New Orleans.

Initially Pines was disqualified because race officials thought he crossed the center line and hit a cone, but video replay showed him staying in his lane. He was handed this win, but unfortunately, was knocked out of the tournament in a subsequent round.

"When the front end started to come up, I figured the best thing to do was just to feather the throttle," Pines told Fox Sports. "You really don't have time to think about the best course of action, as much as you just react naturally. It's just part of the nature with these cars, so you are forever trying to adjust the suspension, so it doesn't fly on you."

The class Pines races in, Outlaw Drag Radial, prohibits wheelie bars.

Pines might not have won big this weekend, but he did achieve internet glory. That has to count for something, right?
