From Road & Track

As we already know, Chevrolet is closing the doors on its Australian factories that pump out glorious rear-wheel drive Holdens. The maker of some of our favorite muscle cars from down under isn't going quietly, as its final car-the HSV GTSR W1-is perhaps the most extreme sport sedan on the market. But unlike the regular Commodore SS, we won't be getting this one in America.

The naturally aspirated LS3-powered Chevy SS is essentially a rebadged Commodore SS, complete with rear-wheel-drive, a manual transmission, and a delightfully fun chassis. The HSV GTSR W1 takes everything to the extreme, with huge six-piston AP Racing brakes, a hardcore coilover suspension, and of course, a 636-horsepower supercharged LS9 V8 taken from the Corvette ZR1.

Sadly, only 300 examples of the HSV GTSR W1 will be produced as a sendoff to the Holden brand, and none of them are destined for the States. Australian site CarAdvice got a hold of one to test out, so while we can't drive one for real, we can at least see how enjoyable the final Commodore is to drive.

Watch below to get a taste of the supercharged Chevy SS we wish we could have. And brace yourself for Holden's future of rebadged, front-wheel drive GM products.
