Remember the McLaren F1? Remember how McLaren built 106 of them in the 1990s and it was the fastest car in the world until the Veyron came along? Remember how it had three seats? You remember that, right?

McLaren is doing that again.

The company has just confirmed the rumors that its McLaren Special Operations division (MSO) is developing a new three seat car. It's called the BP23. BP2 stands for Bespoke Project 2. The 3 stands for 3 seats. There will be 106 built JUST LIKE THE F1. The car is totally sold out, already, and it won't be produced until 2019. IT HAS THREE SEATS.

THREE SEATS.

McLaren is calling the car a Hyper GT since it's designed to take people on longer trips but still perform like a McLaren can. Also it has three seats. We mentioned that, right?

It will be a hybrid, and McLaren says it'll be one of the most powerful cars its ever made, but it has released no specs at this time. It's also being called a thoroughly bespoke project, with every piece of switchgear being made for the BP23 and only the BP23.

Like every McLaren currently in production, it'll have dihedral doors. Except McLaren says these will be powered and will extend into the roof. Makes sense, it's probably so the people entering will have better access to all three seats on board.

Three.

Seats.

We'll have more details closer to the launch of the car, which is still a couple of years off. These years can't go by fast enough.
