Yahoo Autos In Honor of IndyCar's Return to Laguna Seca, Watch 'The Pass'
It was announced this week that IndyCar will end its 2019 season at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. This is good news, not just because Laguna is one of the great tracks in the country, but also because it lets us post a video of 'The Pass.'
The Pass, of course, was Alex Zanardi's audacious 1996 move on the last lap of the season where he undercut Bryan Herta, drove off the right side of the track, and just kept on going to take the win. It was a pass that occurred without an investigation from stewards. Without crying about exceeding track limits. Without any of the complaints that run rampant in modern motorsports.
Instead, it was Zanardi just going for it. Just racing. It's one of the finest moves of all time, and even 22 years later, it'll give you goosebumps.
