Hot Wheels Has Made Replicas of Every Indy 500 Winning Car

From Road & Track

Hot Wheels has gotten in on this month's Indy 500 fever with its version of the Borg-Warner trophy that bears the likeness of every winner of the "Greatest Spectacle in Racing."

With the 100th running of the Indy 500 slated for May 29, a new face will be added to the Borg-Warner, and with the 99 names to work from dating back to 1911, Hot Wheels created its version of the $3 million Indy champion's trophy using 99 cars and trucks.

"All 99 cars featured on this trophy have an authentic Indy 500 story," said Chris Down, Hot Wheels' Senior Vice President and GM. "Most of them are about the journey, not the win. For kids and adults that is exactly what Hot Wheels play is about. Everyone has a Hot Wheels story!"

2014 Indy 500 winner Ryan Hunter-Reay helped unveil the Hot Wheels trophy which features the Dallara-Honda he drove to Victory Lane.

"My first experience with racing was with Hot Wheels cars, I remember zipping cars down the orange track, and now I watch my two sons do the same," said RHR, who drives for Andretti Autosport. "Sharing stories from past races with my kids opens up a conversation about hard work, competition and my passion for racing."
