Monterey Car Week is less than two weeks away. Get ready by hopping inside a 1996 McLaren F1 GTR as it laps Laguna Seca at full-tilt.

These onboard clips were taken by R&T contributor Marshall Pruett at last year's Monterey Motorsport Reunion, with BMW factory driver John Edwards at the wheel. We're given a view from the nose and another from the cabin, where we can see Edwards muscling the BMW V-12-powered racer around much quicker prototypes.

The F1 GTR you see here competed in the 1996 24 Hours of Le Mans, with Nelson Piquet, Danny Sullivan, and Johnny Cecotto at the wheel. Still wearing its FINA livery, the car is currently owned by BMW of North America, and often appears at historic racing events like Monterey.

Fun fact: We actually got to drive this exact F1 GTR back in 2020 for a magazine test against a McLaren Senna. So if you want to learn more about the car's history (and what it's like to get behind the wheel), give that article a read.
